The bonds are also tradable on the stock exchanges within a fortnight of issuance. The investors can also use the bonds as collateral for loans from banks and other financial institutions.
  • Convenience and affordability: The bonds are denominated in grams of gold, with a minimum investment of one gram and a maximum investment of four kilograms for individuals and Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs) and 20 kilograms for trusts and similar entities per fiscal year. The investors can apply for the bonds online through designated banks, post offices, stock holding corporations, clearing corporations, and stock exchanges. The online applicants are eligible for a discount of Rs. 50 per gram on the issue price.

The issue price of the Sovereign Gold Bonds Scheme 2023-24 – Series II has been fixed at Rs. 5923 per gram of gold. The online applicants have to pay Rs. 5873 per gram after the discount. The issue date of the bonds will be September 20, 2023.
